I did the ride in 2010 and went back to the Galena area last summer. I was wondering about the Pecatonica Prairie Path. When I was there on October 9th 2010 it was blocked off at the trail head just west of Rockford. Even though it was dry the trail still looked to overgrown to ride without getting scraped up. I took Edwardsville road most of the way to Freeport. Blackjack road was my favorite part of the ride, great vista views of the rolling hills. There are even vineyards in the area with Black Angus crazing right along the side of the road.
