I finished another great week of running. Each run felt good during the mid-week runs, two new people showed up for the 11:30 pace group, and it looks like it’s time to think about rotating a second pair of shoes in.
I completed another great week. I ran all the days I was scheduled to run. Each run has been a bit faster than I planned but it felt good. I was not gasping for air or in pain. I hope this positive vibe spills over to week five. The weather forecast did predict icky weather for running. I’ll have to adjust my times for that and remind myself that slower is better. I’m so happy that I’m building consistency in my training.
M and T joined the 11:30 pace group on Saturday. Andre and I didn’t Y show and D told me that he will be out of town that weekend. We thought we didn’t have a group so we ran a pace around 11:10 minutes per mile. We stayed with Pam’s group until the turn around. Andre did his extra mileage. I went with Pam.
At a water station, I saw two people stop at the station. I thought they were 11 minute stragglers. I thought I’d act as a sweeper and lead them in at a slower pace. After talking to them, I found out they were new to the 11:30 group! Thankfully, Pam was running around 11:10. I lead them back to the meetup point and tried to slow the pace with M and T. However, M held an 11 minute pace and T was keeping up while being conversational. I learned two lessons on Saturday. First, people will be coming into the program after the third week. Second, M & T really impressed me. They’re going to do great! I really need them to stick to 11:30. They did exceptionally well on Saturday but I don’t want them to burn out before the marathon.
I switched from the Brooks Adrenaline to the Brook Ravenna. The Adrenaline has more slightly support than the Ravenna. The Ravenna has more cushion. They fit the same but the Ravenna makes my feet happier. My shoes are at about 100 miles now. I have to look into buying another pair and work the new pair in by running in them for low mileage runs.
Here’s my training schedule for this week (Week 5):
- Monday: 4 miles easy
- Tuesday: 5 miles easy
- Wednesday: Rest/Cross Training
- Thursday: 5 miles easy
- Friday: 3 miles easy
- Saturday: 10 miles long
- Sunday: 6 miles easy
I will be running for a total of 33 miles. About 30% of those miles will be on my long day. In addition to running, my mom wants to work out with me. We decided to workout at home with the Slim in 6 fitness program. I’ll write more about this in the future.
Keep on running!
