Looking ten years into the future is a good place to start dreaming. It’s close enough to see yet far enough to reach out to it. It provides time and opportunities to adjust the journey or dream to fit the idea of what we want out of life. A vision farther into the future seems impossible or vague. It lays over the mountain, out of sight. A dream closer to today is too narrow and may shortchange the landscape of a well lived life.
I dream of a satisfied life. I’m content with the achievements, learning experiences, and decisions I made in my life. I am happy. I’ve been blessed with abundant wealth I can share. I have the flexibility to follow my passions and help others live theirs. My life gives me the ability to lift people up. I am giving. I am wealthy in many facets of my life. My life is balanced and in harmony with the world around me.
I trained to my full potential to run my best race. I attempted to represent my country and ran the Boston Marathon. I consistently run sub-three hour marathons before switching my athletic goals. I’ve volunteered and competed in Kona 112 mile triathlon. I am at peak health for my age.
I’ll be financially secure and comfortable. I’d have the option to retire. However, I choose not to because I love the work that I do. My work isn’t a job. It is a passion. In ten years, I fathered two successful businesses. The first successful business is a business incubator that creates, develops, and nurtures ideas into successful business. The second child is a socially and environmentally responsible real estate and community development group that engages the local community to empower themselves by investing in their neighborhood with my company instead of being swept aside. It is my way of blending my interests in sociology, business, art, and nature.
I’ve traveled around the world and continue to partake in many grand adventures. I started my travels around the Chicagoland area and spread my wings to encompass the world. I completed the thru-hiking Triple Crown, rode my bike across the United States to see the sun rise on the rocky shores of Maine and watch the setting sun in Washington. I traveled Europe after experiencing the Olympics in 2012. I explored South America after Rio. I rediscovered my roots in Asia.
I tread lightly. I leave no trace yet I leave my mark. I want my life to be a beautiful song long remembered after it is heard.
