Two thousand nine will be the last year I will be struggling with my weight. I’m tired of carrying this weight around. This is the year I get healthy and stay healthy. Having smaller achievable goals next year is essential. Everything will be laid out ahead of time so there will be less thinking and more doing. I’ve written my goals before. It’s good to review them again.
Here is my weight loss goals for 2009:
- Shed twenty-five pounds before the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle 8K on March 29th 2008.
- Eliminate about one unhealthy pound a month until I reach my ideal weight.
- Ultimately, I want to be around my ideal weight or ideal health by my second Chicago Marathon.
- Maintain my healthy weight through the holidays.
These are very achievable goals if I break them down into little baby goals. I have planned to run a number of races between the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle and the Chicago Marathon to stay focused.
All my trips and vacation will revolve around some type of activity. It’ll prevent me from eating too much and lounge around. I’m also making a point to do different activities while I’m in the Chicago area like kayaking, climbing at VE, and cycling on a regular basis. I need to keep focus and I need to get strong.
My kryptonite is yummy delicious food. It’s hard to lose weight in my parent’s home because of all the comfort food and junk food. It’s like having an alcoholic work at a bar. It’s not a good combination. To combat this problem, I need to start cooking individual meal for myself, plan my meals, and monitor it everyday. If I don’t make the progress I want to make in January, I will sign up for Weight Watchers.
My first mini-goal for 2009 is to lose 10% of my weight in a healthy manner and start training for the Shamrock Shuffle. Twenty-one pounds in three months is realistic and achievable right?
[...] With school, debt, and part-time work using much of my resources, there isn’t much left to spend on travel and vacation. Fortunately, the three trips for this year are relatively low cost. Each trip is focused on activity that will help me achieve my goal of obtaining and maintaining a healthy weight. [...]
