How to Get Everything You Want: Prioritizing

There are some people that live the great lives and seem to get everything that they want.  I’ve always marveled at them.  It’s quite amazing.  I’ve been reading and observing the people I admire and realized something.  They don’t have everything.  They have everything that’s important to them. They prioritized the things in their lives and sought to attain it.

Goals sometimes conflict. There are restraints on time and resources.  Daily distractions need immediate attention and drains our energy.  We need to decide what goal we must focus on above all else so we can maintain movement forward.    We only have finite resources available to us at any one time.  We have unlimited energy but it’s hard tapping into it.  Many people we admire were single minded.  They were focused on one thing.

Knowing what you are most passionate about and what is most important to you provide you a lot of energy to get you through the day.  It will also inspire you to do more than what you think you are capable of doing.  It makes you happy.    It gets you out of bed each morning.

Focus on a goal and action  that benefits your long term vision and consider how it benefits everyone around us. As an example, taking a student loan out for school may hurt me short term but it helps me long term because I will be earning more money when I graduate.  Earning more money will let me start saving more, paying off more principle on my loans, and finally buying a home of my own.  I can give my excess money to help others.  Many leaders fall because they only focus on themselves.  They get selfish and greedy.  People get hurt by it.  Look what’s happening in Illinois.

I felt like I was moving but getting nowhere with multiple goals. It’s a real momentum killer.  I spread myself too thin and burnt out.  The last thing you want to do is burn yourself out.  Focus on one goal at a time solved this problem.  Accomplishing one goal at a time gives your faster results in less time.  Reaching your goal can bring more energy and resources into your life to accomplish more.

By prioritizing your goals, you’ll find yourself achieving more in less time.  You will be happier, have more energy, and be in a place you want to be in.  You will get everything you want that is important to you but not over night.  The biggest piece of the puzzle is patience.  Things won’t come immediately but they will come.

Patience.  That’s something I need to work on.
